WHY YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND FAST SPANISH (and how to fix it)
You studied for two years and you still can't follow a real conversation. That's not a vocabulary problem. That's a speed problem, and it's fixable. Mexicans don't speak badly — they speak fast, and what drops out always drops in the same place. Para becomes pa'. Nada más becomes na'más. Está bien becomes 'tá bien. Mi hijo becomes mijo. Don't ask people to speak slowly. Ask them to say it again.
